Ghana captain Richard Kingston has revealed that he was prepared to play through the pain barrier and send the Black Stars to the Africa Cup of Nations final.

He passed a late fitness test was betweeen the sticks to catapult Ghana to her first Nations Cup final in 18 years.

The 32-year-old was named the Orange Man-of-the-Match and admitted he put up a heart-on-the-sleeves performance.

"During the first half I was having some thigh injury I sustained during the match against Angola and not totally fit but I promised my boys that I will do anything for them even if today will be the end of my career, I will do for them to go to the final even if I cannot be there. So today I sacrifice myself for the guys," Kingston said.

"I have a problem with my left foot and I haven't used my left foot before but today I did my best."

Kingston is playing in his fifth Africa Nations Cup finals.
